Designing for Madurai
The climate sets the details.
We do not use a city wind figure off a list. The design wind pressure for your structure is worked out for the exact site under IS 875 (Part 3), from its terrain, height and exposure.
Hot and dry for much of the year, regularly into the high 30s °C.
Most rain arrives with the north-east monsoon, October to December.
Dusty pre-monsoon winds, with little humidity to settle them.

- Red soil and gravel over hard rock, with black cotton soil in pockets. Expansive clay needs deeper footings or replacement, decided by the soil investigation.
