The climate sets the details.

We do not use a city wind figure off a list. The design wind pressure for your structure is worked out for the exact site under IS 875 (Part 3), from its terrain, height and exposure.

• Moderate for its latitude, tempered by air drawn through the Palakkad gap.

• Strong, persistent westerlies through that gap from June to September, unusual this far inland.

• Two monsoons, with the heavier rain arriving October to December.

Ground

Red loam and gravelly soils over gneiss, generally good to build on. Deeper loam pockets need a soil investigation before footings are sized.

What drives the design

Wind. The Palakkad gap funnels a steady westerly that few inland Indian cities see, so uplift and fatigue at the connections are checked harder than an annual average would suggest.

Membrane

PVDF-lacquered PVC, chosen for colour hold under constant wind-driven dust; PTFE-glass for long-span industrial roofs.
